PROFESSIONAL WALK LEADER
NATIONAL NAVIGATION AWARD SCHEME (NNAS) COURSE DIRECTOR AND TUTOR
I took up hill-walking late in life. I hated sport in school, far too much effort involved! But when I went on my first hill walk, in the Brecon Beacons I was smitten. We had a fantastic walk leader who was patient, and allowed us to go at our own pace, catch our breath and enjoy our surroundings. Without her, I would not have reached my first Trig Point, discovered that Thyme grew out in the wild in this country, or seen orchids growing wild! I do most of my walking in the Brecon Beacons, but also enjoy exploring other areas such as Snowdonia, and The Lake District, and also coastal areas such as Pembrokeshire, Devon and Cornwall.
I am passionate about helping others to enjoy the great outdoors, and that is why I took up walk leading and qualified as a Mountain Leader.
I wanted to go out on my own, and knew that in order to do so, I needed to know how to map read and how to use a compass - to navigate. As Find Your Bearings, I now teach navigation, and offer NNAS Award Schemes as well as taster days, so that you too can explore the countryside safely, and not get lost!
I specialise in women only groups.
